Before ordering: identify your Caffitaly machine
To find out which capsules to use with a Caffitaly machine, start with the model number and the manufacturer’s instructions. Then compare those details with the product information for the capsule you want to buy. A pack you have used successfully before may help you find the same product, but it does not prove that a similar-looking capsule is suitable.
Consider the model and product line
Knowing the exact name of your coffee machine is essential. If you only have the commercial name, find the model number too: you will need it when consulting the instructions or asking the seller to check compatibility.
The Caffitaly name alone is not enough. The official FAQs distinguish Caffitaly System from the Professional and Coffee For You lines: System capsules sold in the official shop are not intended for those other lines. Do not choose a product based solely on the logo on your machine.
Compare the manual, packaging and capsule product information
Open the individual product page and look for the system designation, any exclusions and references to specific models. Also check for exclusions concerning machines that read barcodes: some compatible capsules explicitly list these. The colour of a capsule, a similar-looking photograph or the coffee brand cannot replace this information. Even capsules from the same roaster may be offered for different systems.
The phrase “compatible with Caffitaly” indicates the intended use stated by the seller or capsule manufacturer; it does not override the machine’s requirements. If your manual requires original capsules, follow that instruction or ask for clarification before buying alternatives.
If the instructions do not match, stop before paying: give customer support the full machine model and the exact product name. Do not try to resolve the doubt by forcing a capsule into the compartment.
Original or compatible: what are you buying?
An original capsule and one made by a third-party manufacturer are different products. Check who makes the capsule and which system it is stated to work with. Do not assume Nespresso, Dolce Gusto or other systems are equivalent to Caffitaly System: what matters is documented compatibility with your machine.
Why capsule construction matters
In original Caffitaly System capsules, the upper filter distributes water over the coffee during pre-infusion, while the lower filter creates back pressure for extraction. The internal construction therefore matters as much as the external shape: fitting into the compartment is not enough.
Choose a flavour and a quantity you will actually use
Once you have checked compatibility, turn to the blend. Read the description of the individual product to understand its flavour profile and stated details: do not assume that every capsule in the category has the same taste or composition.
The brewing button matters too
In the Quadra S22/S22R manual, the “Filter coffee” setting operates at low pressure and should not be used for espresso. Before deciding that a blend produces too little crema, check that you have selected the correct setting for that drink.
If you are trying a different blend for the first time, consider a small pack, if available, before stocking up. To estimate the quantity, count the drinks you actually make: two coffees a day for four weeks, for example, add up to 56 drinks. This is a consumption calculation, not the name of a pack size for sale. Caffitaly System capsules are single-serve: allow one capsule per drink.
Check how many capsules are included in the selected option and whether the price is per capsule or per pack. Compare the cost per capsule only between options with clear quantities and terms, also taking delivery charges into account. Do not assume that the largest pack is always available or better value.
Your checklist before confirming your cart
- Have you noted the machine’s full model number and product line?
- Are the manual and the capsule information consistent, including any limitations?
- Have you chosen the blend you want and the right number of capsules?
- Is the selected variant available, and does the price correspond to that pack?
- Have you checked the total, purchase terms and delivery conditions?
