When we talk about the story behind the creation of Saida Gusto Espresso coffee, we are not only looking at a corporate narrative, but at a true family story, born of passion, dedication and aromas that evoke both Sicily and Italian pride. The undisputed protagonists are the Marino family, whose dream, born in 2012 in Palermo among conversations and steaming cups, has grown into a company that is recognised and respected in the national coffee roasting sector.

The true family origins

The spark that gave life to Saida coffee was born from the passion shared by two brothers, Ivan and Daniele Marino. From the very beginning, their goal was to ensure that every cup could tell something unique, bringing together Sicilian artisanal tradition with a spirit of continuous innovation, capable of speaking both to the heart and to the palate of those who love authentic espresso.
It all began in a small workshop, with plenty of curiosity and that desire to amaze that only those who truly love what they do really understand. This is how the first two blends were created: Black Bar, for those seeking elegance and intensity, and Red Dek, for those who love the delicacy of decaffeinated coffee without giving up the typical flavour and creaminess of the cup. But what many do not know is that before its current name, the brand was called Sa.i.da Espresso Cialde.

Let’s take a step back though: in 1997 Saida Distributori Automatici was founded, whose main activity, as the name suggests, was the installation and management of vending bars (the classic vending machines we have all used at least once) in Palermo and its province, inside public and private organisations.
After great success, with an established distribution network and an ever-growing passion for espresso, in 2018 the company decided to sell the vending business and reinvest in a rapidly expanding market: coffee and related single-serve products, sold online. Saida Espresso Cialde was born.

What in 2015 was almost a “game” driven by passion became something more in 2018: there was a real shift from simple passion to the decision to turn it into a business activity capable of providing real satisfaction to the many customers acquired over the years, by seeking highly technological and digital solutions in order to offer services that are increasingly fast, efficient and in tune with the needs of those who choose Saida every day.

From the first brand to the new blends

The Marino brothers chose to name the initial brand Sa.i.da Espresso Cialde®, launching the first filtered ESE 44 pods, forerunners of a trend that would quickly conquer those seeking practicality without compromising on quality.
Over time, new aromas made their appearance: White Casa, perfect for those who want intensity and body, and Orange Crema, the queen of creaminess. Compatible capsules for the main home systems soon followed, demonstrating how the Saida world is able to listen to and anticipate the needs of those who want an artisanal experience in every sip.

Evolution and experience

In 2020 an important turning point arrived: the brand evolved and was renewed as Saida Gusto Espresso, a symbol of tangible growth and constant attention to the latest market trends. Yet it never loses sight of what really matters: building customer loyalty through quality, trust and transparency.
This new chapter for the company places even greater emphasis on the value of experience in the world of espresso, strengthening the selection of raw materials and refining every step of the roasting process. In this way, it guarantees an aromatic journey that starts from the finest beans and reaches directly into the homes of thousands of Italian coffee lovers.
